Penetration of the footpad into the lunar surface appears to have been minimal. Lot 32 - Raymond Loewy - Astronaut Suit Apollo Orbital Workshop, ca. 1974 Vintage color print on Kodak paper, 255x210 mm + Vintage silver print, 255x210 mm, 1995 auction stamp, verso Raymond Loewy (1893–1986) was born in Paris on November 5, 1893 and grew up in a bourgeois household. After distinguished service in World War I, Loewy immigrated to the United States in 1919, hoping to find work at General Electric. He settled in New York City. In 1929 Loewy received his first significant product design commission from Sigmund Gestetner, an Englishman who was seeking to modernize the look of his mimeograph machine. During the early 1930s, Loewy also worked for Westinghouse and the Hupp Motor Company, where he designed the prize-winning Hupmobile. His major breakthrough came in 1934 when he received the opportunity to redesign the Sears Coldspot refrigerator.

Men no longer have children, but they do have advanced aerial navigation (aerostation) and image management technology . The first edition of Le Dernier Homme appeared thanks to the mediation of Bernardin de Saint-Pierre, who, struck by the situations offered by Le Dernier Homme, persuaded the bookseller Déterville to publish it. In the publisher's opinion, it passed off very obscurely, unnoticed by a single journalist. There was at least one English translation and a review by Sir Herbert Croft. Marie Shelley quickly drew inspiration from it. Charles Nodier produced a highly corrected edition in two in-12 volumes, in May 1811, which, when it appeared, was greeted by critics as a great and astonishing conception of mind.

It carried 13 passengers who had paid their fare. The second ascent took place on October 18, in the presence of Napoleon III, and ended in the Netherlands. Nadar made six spectacular ascents in this balloon, which he sold in June 1867.

Neovius published, in 1875, a booklet in which he proposed a method to contact the inhabitans of Mars, using light signals projected to Mars with huge beacons. He constructed a message where the meaning of signals gradually rises from arithmetical concepts to logic and physics of the Solar System. The book was translated to French and Russian, but was forgotten when more sceptical attitudes replaced the optimistic views of intelligent life on Mars. Only one copy has the date of 1875, and 56pp. This is the second augmented edition of 1876.

Neovius a publié, en 1875, une brochure dans laquelle il propose une méthode pour contacter les habitants de Mars, en utilisant des signaux lumineux projetés vers Mars à l'aide d'énormes balises. The Flammarion parents ran a modest haberdashery business in Montigny-le-Roi. Camille is the oldest of four children, the youngest of whom, Ernest, founds Éditions Flammarion ... With the profits from Emile Zola's L'Assommoir, Camille and Ernest publish the impressive album L'Astronomie populaire in 1879, with a print run of 130,000 copies.

Lot 60 - After Jules Janssen - Sunspots on 22 June 1885 Observatoire de Paris, 1885 (-1950) Later silver print, 240x180 mm, printed 1950 one of the earliest photographs of a Solar active region, taken by Jules Janssen on 22 June 1885 at the Observatoire de Meudon (Paris, France). In addition to the sunspots and pores of the active region, the granulation pattern of the solar surface can clearly be seen. The photograph recorded a very large field of view, and parts of it appear blurred because of the effects of atmospheric turbulence.

Lot 61 - After James Nasmyth - Moon’s Copernicus Crater (painting) London, 1851 (-ca. 1890) Black and white glass lantern slide, 240x180 mm, credit, in a wooden frame for Magic Lantern James Nasmyth started observing the moon in the 1840s, while running a revolutionary engineering business in Manchester. He tried to use the most up-to-date lunar map published by German astronomers but found the two-dimensional line drawing did not equate easily with the three-dimensional surface he observed. He therefore produced a series of sketches and paintings, from hundreds of observations, focusing on the light and shadow created by the moon’s pitted surface.

Lot 64 - Ferdinand Quénisset - Astrophotography Juvisy, circa 1920 Vintage glass positive, 178x130 mm, Ferdinand became interested in astronomy by reading Camille Flammarion‘s books. In 1891, Quénisset, 19 years old, joined Flamamrion’s Society Astronomique de France as assistant librarian. At the time, the SAF was located at 28 rue Serpente in Paris. Soon, Quénisset worked also as an observer at Flammarion’s observatory in Juvisy-sur-Orge, where he discovered a comet in 1893. He was forced to abandon astronomy for several years while he performed his military service, but then returned to Juvisy to resume his post at the observatory until 1947.

Lot 67 - Léo & Antonin Boulade - Dirigible, Lyon, ca. 1900 Two glass negatives, stereo 160x80 mm and half-stereo, 80x80 mm Antonin Boulade and his brother Léo filed numerous patents in optics and photography. Close friends of the Lumière brothers, they also set up a major photographic products factory in Monplaisir in 1895, which Léo managed alone, while his brother took over the Zenith carburetor factory, also in Monplaisir. Antonin developed a passion for aerostation and aviation at an early age, and in 1894, he made a number of ascents from the Parc de Tête-d'Or, and even the Place Bellecour, before founding the Aéroclub du Rhône in 1889, which he chaired until his death in 1929.

Lot 72 - Léo & Antonin Boulade - Ballon Arago above Monplaisir Near Lyon, 1905 Vintage glass positive, 180x130 mm. Antonin Boulade and his brother Léo filed numerous patents in optics and photography. Close friends of the Lumière brothers, they also set up a major photographic products factory in Monplaisir in 1895, which Léo managed alone, while his brother took over the Zenith carburetor factory, also in Monplaisir. Antonin developed a passion for aerostation and aviation at an early age, and in 1894, he made a number of ascents from the Parc de Tête-d'Or, and even the Place Bellecour, before founding the Aéroclub du Rhône in 1889, which he chaired until his death in 1929.
