The illustrations include two mounted photoglyptic prints of the moon from Rutheford and Nasmyth negatives. The Flammarion parents ran a modest haberdashery business in Montigny-le-Roi. Camille is the oldest of four children, the youngest of whom, Ernest, founds Éditions Flammarion ... With the profits from Emile Zola's L'Assommoir, Camille and Ernest publish the impressive album L'Astronomie populaire in 1879, with a print run of 130,000 copies.
