This great French designer began his prolific career in the 1940s. He was trained in cabinetmaking by François Sebesta, a master in the field. He furnished prestigious private residences, including the Paris residence of Iranian Prince Amini, from which these armchairs and stools originate. Set of two Art Nouveau stools and a bench; 20th century. Wood and embossed leather. They present faults. Measurements: 73 x 69 x 41 cm (x2); 81 x 131 x 47,5 cm. Lot consists of a bench and two stools made of wood and aesthetically inscribed in the Art Nouveau aesthetic movement. The three pieces are worked with great delicacy and forms that evoke the vegetal without actually making it concrete. The latter is a characteristic feature of Art Nouveau, of great originality in the history of art, which had previously only been found in Rococo, the Auricular style and Celtic art.

ROBERT THOMPSON OF KILBURN, A MOUSEMAN BURR OAK DISH TOP STOOL with nailed and adzed top on four octagonal legs joined by stretchers, with carved mouse signature. 37cm high, 38cm wide, 28cm deep It is of wonderful rich colour. There are some shrinkage cracks in the seat. The timber is lovely and dry. There is a small graze to the spine of the mouse. In nice original condition.

The piece has a label that reads "Sicre, Au Pont-Neuf, Toulouse". The Sicre family saga began in 1912 with Pierre Sicre. Three generations later, two sisters, Françoise and Michèle, took over and brought the company into the 21st century. On December 31, 2015, the parent company of Sicre furniture closed its doors on rue des Frères Lion in Toulouse.

GANESHA - Bronze India 16th century Dimensions: Height 7 cm Wide 5 cm Depth 3 cm Weight: 210 grams Small plaque in the shape of a gate or altar and Ganesha seated on a stool with one leg drawn to his body, the other foot standing on the floor. The rub off might imply that this piece was used as a keepsake somewhere close to the body. Ganesha has four arms holding a battle axe, and other objects which are barely recognizable. Most likely he is holding his broken tusk and the ball of sweet laddu balls which he is picking with his trunk. A diamond finial decorates his head.
