Description

GANESHA

Bronze India 16th century Dimensions: Height 7 cm Wide 5 cm Depth 3 cm Weight: 210 grams Small plaque in the shape of a gate or altar and Ganesha seated on a stool with one leg drawn to his body, the other foot standing on the floor. The rub off might imply that this piece was used as a keepsake somewhere close to the body. Ganesha has four arms holding a battle axe, and other objects which are barely recognizable. Most likely he is holding his broken tusk and the ball of sweet laddu balls which he is picking with his trunk. A diamond finial decorates his head.
