Dial: Ivory-coloured, polychrome painted. Movm.: Manual. This lady’s wristwatch by Patek Philippe features an dial with painted flowers and blue Arabic numerals. The platinum case comes with a diamond-studded bezel and the delicate platinum bracelet has a jewelry clasp. The extract from the archives that comes with the watch shows that the watch was created in 1914 and sold on January 11, 1916. The back is engraved with: "Awarded the Grand Prix, Panama-Pacific, International Exposition, 1915, S.F.W. to O.P.W., 25. December 1915". The Panama-Pacific International Exposition was an international fair in San Francisco, California from February 20, to December 4, 1915. The celebration commemorated the completion of the Panama Canal a year earlier. Simultaneously the city of San Francisco wanted to illustrate the fact that it had fully recovered from the 1906 earth quake. The fair was constructed on a 636 acre site along the northern shore of the city. The fair attraczed 18.9 million visitors. The Panama Pacific International Exposition surpassed the standards of previous fairs and world exhibitions in many aspects. The event managed to exude the charme of a "state fair" with a variety of different awards and tributes. Many years later product labels and posters still celebrated the success of countless businesses, state and national institutions as well as the individual efforts delivered during the fair. The main exhibition edifices were dedicated to different topics such as food production, education, social economy, agriculture, transportation, industry, mining, metallurgy and the arts. Even though WWI was raging, several European countries attended the fair, such as Italy, France and Switzerland who exhibited at the Palace of Varied Industries. Case: very good. Dial: very good. Wakmann Watch Co. - A charismatic antimagnetic vintage wrist chronograph with panda dial Cal. Valjoux 726, Case No. 1320, Dimensions 38 mm, circa 1965, Origin Schweiz Case: Gold-plated, steel push back. Dial: Silvered, missing luminous dots. Movm.: Manual. The Wakmann Watch Co. was founded in 1946 by Icko Wakmann in New York and imported several high-quality watch brands for the North American market, the most famous of them being Breitling timepieces. Wakmann had formed a partnership with Breitling in 1947 and imported their cockpit clocks for the American military as well as for civil aviation. After World War II, Wakmann began producing their own watches in parallel to the sales and distribution business; they were also supplied with watches by the Swiss company Charles Gigandet S.A. in Tramelan. Wakmann sold only a few watches with double signatures. Manual-wound chronographs are popular timepices that are still highly coveted by collectors because of their beautiful design and the outstanding movements used. This wrist chronograph is an excellent choice for lovers of fine vintage timepieces not only due to its modern size but also because of the attractive panda dial. Italy - Kingdom of the Two Sicilies : Sword from the possession of the Regent of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies and Minister of Justice Michelangelo Cianciulli (1734-1819). The fire-gilt hilt in typical Empire decoration with female herms, sphinxes, mythical creatures, laurel branches and arabesques of the finest quality. The three-edged blade blued and gilded in the upper third. The maker's mark "W" on the back of the ricasso. With original black leather scabbard with finely chiselled fire-gilt mountings. On two suspension rings. Beautiful, elegant and magnificent epee of the finest quality and condition. Length: 96 cm. This sword comes from the possession of Michelangelo Cianciulli (1734-1819), Regent of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies in 1806 and 1808, President of the Council of State (1808), Vice-President of the Council of State (1809-1815), Minister of Grace and Justice of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies (1807-1809).
