Wakmann Watch Co.

A charismatic antimagnetic vintage wrist chronograph with panda dial Cal. Valjoux 726, Case No. 1320, Dimensions 38 mm, circa 1965, Origin Schweiz Case: Gold-plated, steel push back. Dial: Silvered, missing luminous dots. Movm.: Manual. The Wakmann Watch Co. was founded in 1946 by Icko Wakmann in New York and imported several high-quality watch brands for the North American market, the most famous of them being Breitling timepieces. Wakmann had formed a partnership with Breitling in 1947 and imported their cockpit clocks for the American military as well as for civil aviation. After World War II, Wakmann began producing their own watches in parallel to the sales and distribution business; they were also supplied with watches by the Swiss company Charles Gigandet S.A. in Tramelan. Wakmann sold only a few watches with double signatures. Manual-wound chronographs are popular timepices that are still highly coveted by collectors because of their beautiful design and the outstanding movements used. This wrist chronograph is an excellent choice for lovers of fine vintage timepieces not only due to its modern size but also because of the attractive panda dial. The panda dial is remarkable with its distinctive colour scheme. Black subdials on white ground are reminiscent of the face of a panda and lends the watch a timeless, elegant look. What is more, this timepiece is not only beautiful to look at but also technically appealing. The chronograph functions such as stopwatch and tachymeter scale make this the perfect watch for sports enthusiasts or indeed, anyone interested in timekeeping. The combination of vintage beauty and modern functionality make this timepiece an authentic and multifunctional accessory for any occasion. Case: very good, worn, slightly rubbed, later crown. Dial: very good. Movm.: very good, capable of running, cleaning recommended.
