Description

Bird; Following BUCCELLATI models, twentieth century. Silver 925. Presents punches. Measurements: 4 x 9,5 x 4,5 cm. Bird made entirely in silver with filaments as a thread in the body. Aesthetically the work is close to the models of the Italian firm Buccellati which was founded by Mario Buccellati in Milan in 1919, and soon acquired notoriety for the quality and elegance of his creations, both in silverware and jewelry. In 1951 the firm opened its first store in New York, followed only three years later by a second location in the same city. In 1979 Gianmaria Buccellati opened the firm's flagship store in Paris, in Place Vendome, thus confirming the firm's status among the most prestigious in the world. Already in the nineties its importance will be recognized with the exhibition "The Art of Buccellati", held at the Academy of Sciences in San Francisco in 1995, which the following year will travel to the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto. In 2000 the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. will dedicate to the firm the exhibition "Buccellati: Art in Gold, Silver and Gems", and in 2008 the exhibition "Buccellati, Timeless Art" will be inaugurated at the State Kremlin Museum in Moscow.
