Description

Directory cylindrical desk, late 18th century. Mahogany wood and marble on the top. Metal applications. With marks of use. Needs refinishing. Measurements: 106 x 74.5 x 46 cm. French drum desk, dated XVIIIth century, period and Directory style, made in mahogany. It presents a clear and balanced structure, raised on four typically neoclassical legs, in the form of stylised fluted columns, narrower towards the foot. The front houses three drawers (two at the top and one at the bottom) and a hinged drum, all of which have separate locks. The inside of the drum has two further drawers, this time of smaller dimensions, both with handles, and a pull-out tray with a mat, which acts as a writing surface. The sample follows the same neoclassical criteria of simplicity and geometry, with a marked fillet that runs along the profile of each part of the structure.
