Ɏ AN IVORY NETSUKE OF A DANCING KARAKO Ɏ AN IVORY NETSUKE OF A DANCING KARAKO Unsigned Japan, 18th century, Edo period (1615-1868) An amusing netsuke of a young Chinese boy, dressed in voluminous garments, as he dances with both hands clenched tight into fists, one raised above his head, and the other swinging to the side, as he moves forward, merrily moving his body about, heartily smiling with full cheeks. Generously excavated himotoshi to the back. Beautiful, deep patina. HEIGHT 6.5 cm Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and expected age cracks. Provenance: From the 40-year collection of a gentleman in London, UK. Galerie Zacke, Fine Japanese and Netsuke Art, 22 June 2019, Vienna, lot 165.
