MINAMOTO NAGATSUNE: A TSUBA DEPICTING ONI KNEELING BEFORE ABE NO SEIMEI MINAMOTO NAGATSUNE: A TSUBA DEPICTING ONI KNEELING BEFORE ABE NO SEIMEI Signed Minamoto Nagatsune horu and sealed Setsuzan Japan, Edo period (1615-1868) Of naga-marugata shape with a hammered tsuchime ground, kogai hitsu-ana with a gold fill, copper sekigane, metal patina to an iron finish, worked in gold and copper takazogan depicting oni kneeling before Abe no Seimei, the famous Onmyoji diviners of the Heian period. Stamped with characters ´Teifu´ and signed MINAMOTO NAGATSUNE horu (engraved by Minamoto Nagatsune) with a gold seal inscribed Setsuzan. HEIGHT 8.4 cm, LENGTH 7.9 cm WEIGHT 186.2 g Condition: Very good condition with minor wear. With a wood tomobako storage box. The artist named on this piece is listed in Haynes Index of Japanese Sword Fittings and Associated Artists on p. 1301 (H 06539.0). Minamoto Nagtsune lived 1722-1787 in the Echizen province and was a student of Yasui Takanaga.
