Antonio Zarco begins his artistic formation in 1947, in the School of Arts and Trades of Madrid. In 1952 he enters the School of Fine Arts of San Fernando. In 1971 he obtained a teaching position at the School of Arts and Crafts, and in 1980 he was appointed Inspector General of the Schools of Applied Arts and Artistic Crafts. He is currently a professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Madrid. He held his first individual exhibition in 1958, at the Carmina Abril Gallery in Madrid. Since then he has exhibited in various parts of the Spanish geography. His awards include the third medal at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts (1957), the gold medal for landscape in El Paular, Segovia (1958), the Rodriguez Acosta Foundation Award in Granada (1958 and 1969), the Juan March Foundation scholarship (1959), the Grand Prix of Rome and the Provincial Council of Cordoba in 1960, the engraving prize at the VI Biennial of Alexandria (1966) and the medal of honor at the BMW Painting Award (1990), among others. He is represented in various public and private institutions, such as the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, the Museo Provincial de Zaragoza, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Toledo, the MACBA in Barcelona and Cairo and the Museo Municipal de Madrid.
