Paul de FLERS (b. 1988) Etching 22 x 15 cm Accompanied by a limited edition of Cahier Regala Affresco Sold unframed Paul de Flers was born in Paris. Initially, he was studying law, but when he finally moved to Italy, the country of art par excellence, something clicked, and Paul took up painting on a self-taught basis. In a way, Tuscany brought him his Renaissance. His favorite themes are swimming pools, modern architecture and vegetation. His varied inspirations range from Matisse to Giotto, not forgetting Gauguin and Edvard Munch. Paul likes to mix artificial and natural elements, blurring form and content. His melancholy canvases plunge the viewer into a latent atmosphere. Time stands still. To paint, Paul uses pure pigments on a linen canvas, hence the vibrant intensity of his colors. Among the pigments he favors are caerulean blue and manganese blue, with its green undertones, to recreate the chemical aspect of swimming pools...
