Horace Greeley Autograph Letter Signed

Founder and editor of the New York Tribune (1811-1872) who used the power of his newspaper to advocate for a variety of liberal causes, most importantly the call for emancipation of slaves during the Civil War. ALS, one page, 5 x 8, New-York Tribune letterhead, November 27, 1868. Handwritten letter to H. H. Brown in Peekskill, New York, in part: "I have yours of the 27th inst. now. Very good. I will lecture for you on the evening of Friday, Dec. 11th. That is the earliest time I can and I trust it will answer. Please let me know." In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope.
