JOHN CRUCEFIX AT YE BLUE BOAR, LONDINI FECIT. A LATE 17TH CENTURY BRASS LANTERN CLOCK the case surmounted by a bronze bell supported by brass bell straps and urn-shaped finials enclosing three pierced and engraved lion and unicorn frets above a 7" silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals, the lower edge inscribed 'Judge not another man's servant' the centre dial engraved with tulips fronting an unusually narrow weight driven movement with anchor escapement and rear-mounted countwheel striking the hours on the bell, hook and spike mounts to the back, engraved brass hinged side doors and brass baluster shaped corner pillars. (38cm high) Thew movement is dirty but looks complete, miising the rope. Looks to have always been on an anchor escapement. One of the side frets from the top of the case is detached, the hands have been replaced and would have originally been a single handed clock. Comes with weight but no pendulum.
