SIMON DE CHARMES, LONDON. A GEORGE I EBONISED QUARTER REPEATING BRACKET CLOCK OF SMALL PROPORTIONS the inverted bell top with brass carrying handle above a moulded arch glazed door with gilt sound frets enclosing a 6" gilt brass arched dial having masked spandrels, engraved silvered Roman chapter ring with outer Arabic minutes, matted centre with calendar aperture, the arch having penny moon aperture fronting an eight-day double fusee five pillar movement with verge escapement, quarter pull repeat on a small bell, striking the hours on a larger bell, back plate fully engraved. (40cm high not including handle) The movement, dial and case are all original to each other, the case looks to have been restored, as does the movement, the clock is ticking but not striking and the quarter repeat isnt functioning correctly so will require attension, movement is complete. The lock on the back door has been replaced, the apron is missing from the rear of the back cock. There is one vacant hole on the backplate which I cant explain.
