Description

[Manuscript]. [Sciences & techniques]. PERPETUAL MECHANICAL MOVEMENT. Motor applicable to all kinds of machines, accompanied by plates and explanations made accessible to the people of the world. Made easy for all intelligences. Manuscript, early 20th century. In-4, ink on paper, 8 leaves (5 p. ½ of text), 3 full-page figures, sewn, no cover (stains in margin of 3 f.). "If there's one thing in the world we should never deal with except with extreme suspicion, it's perpetual motion! ... You're bound to lose some feathers..." (L.-F. Céline, in Mort à Crédit). This astonishing anonymous manuscript, which we regret we can't attribute to Roger-Marin Courtial des Pereires, is nevertheless one of many attempts to revive the myth, which was called into question as early as 1775, when the Académie des Sciences de Paris resolved not to examine any new memoirs on the subject.
