ALEXANDER II (1855-1881) and the august family. A photographic album dedicated to the trip of the Russian imperial family to relatives in Hesse in 1863.

14 photographs (10.5x6 cm) by the Darmstadt photographer Franz Backofen (1806-1881). In a calico cover with embossed album. Metal clasp, gold trimmings. Portrait photographs: 1) The Grand Duchess of Hesse Elizabeth, born Princess of Prussia (1815-1885) - the grandmother of Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna and Empress Alexandra Feodorovna. 2) Prince Ludwig of Hesse (1837-1892; since 1877 - the Grand Duke of Hesse) with his wife Alice, born a British princess (1843-1878) - the parents of Grand Duchess Elizabeth Fedorovna and Empress Alexandra Fedorovna. Depicted with their frstborn, Princess Victoria (1863-1950). 3) Emperor Alexander II with a dog. 4) Empress Maria Alexandrovna, born Princess of Hesse. 5) Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich (1847-1909). 6) Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna (1853-1920), in marriage - the British Duchess. 7) Prince Henry of Hesse (1838-1900). 8) Princess Anna of Hesse (1843-1865), in marriage - the Grand Duchess of Mecklenburg-Schwerin (since 1864). The album is supplemented by 6 views of Hesse (flming from prints and lithographs).
