ATTRIBUTED TO JEAN-BAPTISTE-CLAUDE SENÉ (1748-1803), SUITE OF FOUR ARMCHAIRS, LOUIS XVI PERIOD in molded and carved gilded wood. The uprights are detached columns with a fluted motif, the armrests are cuffed, the baluster-shaped armrests are decorated with water leaves at the bottom, the waistband is curved, the tapered legs are fluted, and the lampas is a replica of the one commissioned by Goudoin for Queen Marie-Antoinette's billiard room in Versailles. (Damage, missing parts and restorations). A four-chair suite attributed to Jean-Baptiste-Claude Sené, Louis XVI period, 18th century H. 89 - W. 59 - D. 54 CM - H. 35 - W. 23,2 - D. 21,3 IN. Jean-Baptiste-Claude Sené (1747-1803), son of master joiner Claude Sené and godson of cabinetmaker Jean-Baptiste Lelarge, obtained his master's degree on May 10, 1769. Six months after his master's degree, he established himself on rue de Cléry, like his father and uncle. He became a supplier to the Crown from 1785. In 1787, under the direction of Jean Hauré, sculptor, this excellent cabinetmaker executed the joinery for Marie-Antoinette's famous bed for the Fontainebleau palace. His prestigious clientele included the King and Queen for their châteaux at Versailles, Saint-Cloud, Compiègne and Fontainebleau, and various members of the royal family, including Madame Elisabeth at Montreuil, Madame Louise at Saint-Denis, the Comte de Provence, the Prince de Condé and the Duc de Penthièvre.
