VENICE BASCULE CHAIR, 19th CENTURY Molded and carved walnut. The banded backrest is centered on a medallion decorated with a Bacchus child topped by webbed scrolls with a woman's mask. The scrolled armrests feature leafy piastres, pastilles, rosettes and pomegranate garlands. The base is a roaring lion walking on a scrolled rocker, with children's heads in the round at the front. It is joined by two crossbars with leafy, webbed scrolls.
