SUITE OF SIX FLAT-BACK CHAIRS, STAMPED I.AVISSE FOR JEAN AVISSE (1723-1796), LOUIS XV PERIOD in molded and carved beech decorated with foliage and acanthus leaves. They stand on curved legs. (Accents and restorations) A set of six chairs by Jean Avisse, Louis XV period, mid-18th century Jean Avisse (1723-1796), awarded the title of master carpenter on November 10, 1745, established his workshop in 1743 at 124 rue de Cléry. He initially produced commissions for Parisian merchant-merchants, before devoting himself exclusively to a private clientele, notably the French aristocracy. During his career, Avisse collaborated with the most renowned sculptors of his time, such as François Baillard, Claude Vinache, Pierre Rousseau and Nicolas Heurtaut, creating richly sculpted chairs. His customers included such eminent figures as the Marquise de Chabannes, the Comtesse de Fontenay and the Chevalier de Lamotte.
