On a griotte red marble base H. 6.5 CM 'Au but', bronze sculpture with brown patina by Alfred Boucher HEIGHT. 28 - WIDTH. 15 - PROF. 9 CM - H. 11 x W. 5,9 x D. 3,5 IN. Innovative for its time, this work testifies to the artist's mastery in representing balance and movement. The plaster version of the group was shown at the Salon of 1886, then at the Universal Exhibition of 1889, where it was awarded a gold medal. He produced a monumental bronze for the French State, destroyed in 1940, and published reductions by founders Barbedienne and Siot.
