VIEW OF VENICE Oil on canvas. Doubled. 56 x 73.5 cm. In decorative frame. View of a large square surrounded by houses and a basilica with a turquoise dome, on which numerous elegantly dressed figures can be seen. In the middle of the foreground, three elegant gentlemen in long, colorful coats, some with grey wigs, are in conversation; to their left, a small dog is looking at an elegant lady in a long dress. The depiction is under a high light blue sky with a few white cloud formations. Attention was first drawn to the above painter in 1994, when 13 paintings in the collection of the Langmatt Foundation in Baden-Baden were recognized as obviously by the same painter. The identification as Apollonio Facchinetti was achieved by uncovering an artist's name on the reverse of one of the works.(1401271) (18) Apollonio Facchinetti, also known as "Domenichini", active 1740 - 1770, attributed VIEW OF VENICE Oil on canvas.
