Iran, 19th century Manuscript leaf on Persian astronomical sciences, calligraphed in naskh with black ink, illustrated with a diagram and an allegorical figure, illustrating the principle of an eclipse, probably from a manuscript by Qutb al-din al-Shirazi (d. 1311). Drawing: 20.5 x 14 cm. Framed under glass. The same drawing appears on folio 98 of a manuscript by Qutb al-Din al-Shirazi (d. 1311), kept at the Bilbiothèque nationale de France, under the reference Arabe 2517. Provenance : Public sale, Enchères Rive Gauche, March 26, 2012, n°168, reported as former Bernard and Bertrand Bottet collection.
