These six chine-mounted plates were based on Robert Reinick's counter-revolutionary poems after the Dresden uprising of 1849. They illustrate the following scenes: The resurrection of Death from his tomb; Death riding a horse towards the city; The infatuation of the people; Death in front of a tavern; The incitement to rebellion; Death offers his sword to the people Death on the barricades; Death victorious.
