[ATLAS]. DALBE (B.). GENERAL MAP OF THE WAR IN ITALY IN 30 SHEETS. Published in the 6th republican year [1797-98]. Mottling not severe on maps 0 and 1. 31 MAPS numbered 0 to 30, canvas-backed and edged with blue-green silk borders, folded in 4 (53 X 44.5 cm) for map "0" or in 6 parts (67 X 53 cm approx.) for the other 30 maps, all engraved by the Bordiga Brothers, often with colored borders. Map "0" consists of the assembly table of all the maps, map "30" of the historical table. Map "1" contains geographical notes explaining how this map was produced: "The author's aim in publishing this map was not only to erect a monument to the glory of the conquerors of Italy, but also to be useful by offering the public, in a single accurate and detailed map, a famous portion of Europe to which the victories of the Republicans have just given new forms: He has also endeavoured to show in a precise and picturesque way the immense chain of the Alps: one glance embraces this great system of mountains and makes out the connection of all its parts." The First Italian Campaign was a military campaign led by General Bonaparte in Northern Italy and Austrian territory from March 24, 1796 to April 7, 1797. Very rare and complete.
