GABON. Haut Ogooué region. Kota ethnic group. Reliquary figure, portrait of an ancestor. Wooden core covered with thin sheets of copper and brass. (Cracks, restorations and missing pieces). Height Height : 49 cm With a blackened wooden base. Provenance: - Sale on June 15, 2013, Maison de ventes Leclerc, Marseille. - Collection of Mr. M..., former Consul General in Dakar in the 2000s. According to family tradition, this reliquary belonged to Henry Huon (1918-2007), a Belgian collector and former United Nations official who lived in Dakar for many years and acquired it near Franceville in the 1950s.
