She is the wife and shakti (energy) of Vishnu, one of the principal deities of Hinduism. Lakshmi is also worshipped as the embodiment of beauty, grace, and charm. In Hindu mythology, she is often depicted as sitting or standing on a lotus flower and holding lotus flowers or gold coins in her hands, symbolizing wealth and abundance.
