BENES EDVARD: (1884-1948) Czech statesman who served as President of Czechoslovakia 1935-38, 1945-48 and also led the Czechoslovak government-in-exile from 1939-45 during World War II. Vintage signed postcard photograph of Benes standing in a three-quarter length pose and resting one hand on an open book at his side. Photograph by Frantisek Dritkol of Prague and bearing his imprint beneath the image. Signed by Benes in bold, dark fountain pen ink to the lower border and dated Prague, 23rd July 1928, in his hand.
