GOUNOD CHARLES: (1818-1893) French composer. A.N.S., Ch. Gounod, to the recto of his personal printed oblong 12mo Visiting Card, featuring his printed name ( 'Ch. Gounod', as a Membre de l'Institut) to the centre and address at Place Malesherbes (Paris) to the base, in French. Gounod writes in pencil and charmingly states 'Je prie mon amie Mme. Trelat de vouloir bien accorder un moment d'entretien a Mme Palicot de qui Je serais heureux qu'elle connut le beau et severe talent' (Translation: 'I would like to ask my friend Mme Trelat to kindly grant a moment's interview to Mme Palicot, whose severe and beautiful talent I would be happy for her to know').
