CARTER HOWARD: (1874-1939) English archaeologist and Egyptologist who discovered the Tomb of Tutankhamun in 1922. T.L.S. by E. G. Ogan of The Readers´ Library Publishing Company Ltd., one page, 4to, Great Queen Street, Kingsway, London, 28th July 1933, to Howard Carter ( ´Dear Sir´). Ogan writes, in full, ´We wish to reproduce the enclosed photographs in an educational publication for children, entitled "The Wonderland of Knowledge" and shall be pleased if you will kindly grant us permission to do so. Will you state what fee you will require, and the style of acknowledgement to be made? Kindly return the proofs when replying´. With a pencil annotation in Carter´s hand and signed by him with his initials in the third person at the base of the letter, indicating that he sent a reply on the 8th August 1933, ´5 photos, 2 guineas, By permission of Dr. HC´. VG
