[SIGNED BINDING] Louis REYBAUD - Jérôme Paturot, in search of a social position From J. J. Dubochet and Lechevalier in Paris, 1846 - A very fine copy of the first edition, magnificently illustrated by Grandville. Superb posterior binding by David in half morocco with corners, 5-rib spine with very richly decorated boxes, mosaiced with bands of red morocco and floral motifs, gilt head, one small defect on the first cover with a discreet bump at the bottom, slight crack at the bottom of the first spine, otherwise superb binding. The very rare original illustrated covers have also been preserved, a little soiled, and rebacked on strong paper, dated 1845. One of Grandville's finest achievements, according to Carteret. Large format in-4, much more attractive than the two-volume in-8 edition subsequently published. 460pp.
