Null Pair of Torcheros; Italy, XIX century.

Carved, polychrome and gilded wood…
Description

Pair of Torcheros; Italy, XIX century. Carved, polychrome and gilded wood. They present faults. Measurements: 69 x 22 x 16 cm (x2). Pair of wood carvings in round, polychrome and gilded, representing two male figures that probably originally carried lamps or cornucopias with lights. They are two angels dressed with tunic, mantle, in complex and foreshortened positions, that speak to us of the formal and technical domain of their author. They are two figures of marked expressiveness, dynamic and theatrical in their gestures. Another characteristic of this style is the marked volume of the folds of the fabrics, which would produce expressive chiaroscuro in the candlelight.
