Description
Reliquary of Carlos IV period; Spain, c. 1790. Gold. It presents faults and restorations. Measurements: 4.5 x 37 cm; 3 x 4.5 x 0.6 cm. Weight: 26 g (gold). Gold reliquary with an engraving inside depicting Saint Theresa. This type of reliquary was very common from the Gothic period, used to contain relics of the saints. It should be remembered, however, that at that time practically any element that had been in contact with the saint or his mortal remains (cloths, burial soil, etc.) was considered a sacred relic. The best examples were made of precious metals. It presents faults and restorations.
