Pair of candlesticks "Danse de flore"; VAL SAINT LAMBERT; early twentieth century. Cobalt blue and clear glass. Signed on the base. Measurements: 30,5 x 9 x 9 x 9 cm (x2). This pair of candlesticks made in blue and colorless glass with gold details is a design by Léon Ledru, who worked for the manufacture of Val Saint Lambert, from 1896 to 1926. The pieces are known with the model "Danse de Flore", for the bacchantes that adorn the central area. Val Saint Lambert is a glass firm whose headquarters is located in the former abbey of Seraing, province of Liège, Belgium. The company has been in operation since 1826, Val St. Lambert is the official supplier of King Albert II of Belgium. It is characterized by a quality production due to the clarity of its glasses. In 1825, Jean-François Deneef settled in Val Saint-Lambert with the intention of creating a glass factory whose quality would surpass that of the neighboring Baccarat. Val Saint Lambert was founded by the chemist M. Kemlin, who was previously employed at Vonêche in the Ardennes. It soon achieves several medals due to the clarity of its crystal pieces. Val Saint Lambert is known for its art nouveau and art deco style in the pieces.
