A LARGE GREEN JADE ‘SILK-WORM’ PENDANT, HONGSHAN CULTURE China, Neolithic period, 3500-2500 BC. Carved with a flat head, two large eyes, and a small mouth, the body boldly carved with shallow grooves immolating the worms wrinkly skin. Pierced with a horizontal aperture for suspension. The opaque jade of a spinach-green tone with dark green and icy inclusions, as well as calcification. Condition: Very good condition, commensurate with age, with wear. Signs of weathering and erosion, minuscule nicks smoothened over the millennia, and nibbling to edges. Provenance: German private collection.
