Long-grained dark blue morocco, broadly framed with a wide cold fillet, gilded fillets and gilded rocaille irons at the corners of the boards, ornate ribbed spine, framed in dark blue morocco with gilded fillets and gilded and cold irons, brown moiré silk lining decorated with a gilded floral roulette, brown moiré silk endpapers, double endpapers, gilt edges on witnesses, cover and spine preserved, case (René Aussourd 1920). A very fine edition at 600 copies, illustrated with 27 etchings by the painter Alfred de RICHEMONT (1857-1911), engraved by Charles Chessa, including a vignette on the title, repeated on the cover, 3 chapter headings, 3 culs-de-lampe and 20 hors-textes including the frontispiece. One of 100 copies on japon or grand vélin d'Arches, this one on grand vélin d'Arches (n° 75), including 3 states of the etchings (pure etching with remarks, avant la lettre with remarks and état définitif). A very fine, well-preserved copy bound by René Aussourd in 1920.
