Two fragments of a Jain stone altar. India, ca. 16th century Upper part of the altar (h 25cm, w 40cm) with canopy and figures of Adorants, including two figures on elephants and two Jinas. Lower part of the altar (H 13.5cm, W 40cm) with animals and yakshas separated from columns, as well as the karma wheel; remains of an inscription in the lower area. Small losses, otherwise in very good condition. Provenance: ex Gorny & Mosch 300, 2023, lot 559; ex M.D. Collection, North Rhine-Westphalia, in Germany since before 1980.
