Syro-Hittite idol of the Hama type. 1st third 2nd millennium BC. H 13.7cm, H base 5cm, total 18.7cm. Light beige terracotta, hand-molded. Statuette of a female, unclothed deity with outstretched stubby arms and bird-headed face. Behind the head a trapezoidal structure with four holes that were used to hold gold earrings. With certificate of authenticity from Ch. Bacher and copy of the invoice! Remains of sinter, figure broken in the middle and professionally reassembled, right arm stump reattached. Provenance: Ex private collection C. K., Brandenburg; acquired 2020 from Christoph Bacher, Archäologie / Ancient Art, Vienna; ex private collection Peter Hollander (1931-2014), Amsterdam, thereafter family property.
