Head of a composite idol. Bactria, Margiana, 2600 - 1800 B.C. H 4.8 cm. Made of white calcite. The eyes pierced and originally inlaid with other material (bitumen). An oval opening at the back of the head to accommodate a hairpiece made of another material. Widened and rounded at the lower end for insertion into a body. Remains of sinter, minimally bumped, inlays of the eyes and hairpiece missing. Provenance: Ex collection Dr. Klaus Marquardt, North Rhine-Westphalia, 1980s to 2009.

Artist information: Hungarian painter, graphic artist and sculptor (1932 Szentendre - 2016 Szentendre), from 1958 studied at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts, study trips to Paris, Brussels and the Soviet Union, from 1971 also engaged in sculpture, source: Internet.

[Paris], [Éditions Nilsson], [1926-1930]. 2 volumes in-16 (9.2 x 8.7 cm) with 60 and 65 plates, mitered, brown morocco, smooth spine, mosaic red morocco bands on the spine running along the boards, gilt title on the spine, speckled head, lined slipcase (Takita). The album Costumes du pays de France includes 60 color plates by Aline Keim, featuring traditional women's costumes with the region captioned at the foot. La Mode (XIXe siècle) features 65 color plates stenciled with women's costumes from 1800 to 1900, with the year captioned at the foot. The plates are taken from La Mode féminine de 1490 à 1920, published by Nilsson in 1926. Rubbed spine ends, russet stains on several plates in first volume, otherwise fine copies in signed binding (Colas, no. 1598).
