The eyes are made of dark blue glass inlay. Very high quality work! In ancient Egyptian mythology, the ibis stands for Thoth, the god of wisdom, science, magic, writing and the moon as well as - very importantly - the calendar. In the context of the cult of the dead, he is of great importance as the recorder of the judgment of the dead.
