Amphora in sand core technique. Eastern Mediterranean, 1st century BC. H 14.3cm. Red opaque glass. Oval body with shoulder, tapering base and knobbed foot, narrow, long neck, small funnel mouth and two shoulder handles. Foot and handle made of greenish glass. Body decorated with a fine yellow and light blue garland pattern and spiral threads. Reassembled from several fragments, missing fragments restored, some with beautiful mother-of-pearl iridescence; with stand. Provenance: ex Gorny & Mosch 300, 2023, lot 235; ex collection Dr. Wiegand, Bavaria, collection period 1960s to 2005.
