Scroll seal with worship scene. Neo-Assyrian (ball burin style), ca. 800 - 650 BC. H 3.2 cm, ø 1.5 cm. Milky white chalcedony. Bearded figure in a long robe, both hands outstretched, in front of a deity with polos surrounded by a halo of rays, with a crescent moon and rhombus in between. Behind the deity crouches the serpent dragon Mushchushshu, symbolic animal of the god Marduk, who carries a spade and stylus, the symbols of his son Nabû, on his back; above him hovers a winged sun. With certificate of authenticity by Prof. W. G. Lambert (August 1986, copy)! With unrolling! Published in: E.
