Description

Scroll seal with introductory scene. Old Babylonian, ca. 2003 - 1595 B.C. H 2.5 cm, ø 1.0 cm. Hematite. Two pairs standing opposite each other: a deity with horned crown and falbel robe, sickle axe in the right hand, double lion's club in the left, foot placed on goat protomes (or horned goatfish?), in front of a praying man with broad-brimmed cap and goat in his arms. Next to them two deities, the one on the left in a falbel robe with folded arms, the one on the right placing her right foot on a mountain and holding a wreath in her right hand.
