Description

Scroll seal with introductory scene. Old Babylonian, ca. 2003 - 1595 B.C. H 3.0cm, ø 1.6cm. Hematite. A figure with a broad-brimmed cap and long beard, her left hand resting on the weapon at her waist, facing a goddess with a horned crown, falbel robe and raised hands; between them a lion's sickle axe, above a crescent moon and sun disk. Three-line inscription: "'Ammu-nih, / son of Nuriya, / servant of Yamsi-hatnuhu". With expertise on the translation of the inscription by H. M. Kümmel and the invoice (copies)! Published in: E.
