Description

Scroll seal with introductory scene. Old Babylonian, ca. 2003 - 1595 B.C. H 2.4 cm, ø 1.3 cm. Hematite. A deity with horned crown and falbel robe stands with raised hands behind a worshipper with broad-brimmed cap and goat in his arms; in front of them the frontally standing Ishtar with horned crown, her right leg protrudes from her skirt, her foot stands on a lion protome, in her right hand she holds the double lion's club, in her left hand a sickle axe, clubs grow from her shoulders. To the right, space has been left for an inscription. With a copy of the invoice! With unrolling! Published in: E.
