Description

Prismatic carnelian seal. Middle Minoan, ca. 1900 - 1600 B.C. L 1.8cm, W 1.12-1.03cm. Made of red carnelian. Three-sided prism with amygdaloid surfaces and longitudinal drilling. On one side a "talismanic motif", probably representing part of the hull and cabin, the cargo or the rigging of a ship. On the other side, a single-handled jug on a stand, branches on both sides and a baseline. The third side is smooth. Published. Published: I.
