Description
Part of a gold diadem. Roman Imperial period, 2nd - 3rd century AD. 5.42g, l 10.5cm. Diamond-shaped gold sheet with punched circles on the rim and on the center line, serrated leaves at the ends, embossed floral tendrils in the corners. Fastening holes at the narrow ends. Probably part of a headdress. Gold! One fastening hole somewhat frayed. Provenance: ex Gorny & Mosch 300, 2023, lot 167; ex W. M. Collection, Bavaria, acquired from Galerie Athena, Munich, 1992.
