Late antique clay lamp with date palm. North Africa, 4th - 5th century A.D. Type Hayes II. L 13cm, H 5cm. Made of dark gray clay with brown coating. Cone-shaped handle, ovoid body, rounded snout with firing hole, two filling holes in the mirror. A date palm on the mirror. Alternating checkerboard squares and ornamental chain links on the shoulder. Traces of sinter, flaking, intact. Provenance: Ex private collection H.L., Rhineland, since before 2000.
