Firmalamp. Roman, 1st - 2nd century A.D. Loeschcke type IX. L 13.7cm, H 4.5cm. Made of brown clay with black coating. Lentil-shaped body with handle and elongated, rounded snout. The shoulder and snout decorated with raised dots. Workshop mark on the underside: L DOMITI PAVII. With certificate of authenticity from Galerie Günter Puhze, 2008! Cf. J. Deneauve, Lampes de Carthage (1974) no. 1033. intact. Provenance: From the collection of R. L., Lower Saxony, acquired 2008 from Galerie Günter Puhze, Freiburg; ex collection K., Trier.

The bottle rising from a concave base to a tall cylindrical neck adorned with a frilled band, the body with pronounced dimples. This bottle was most likely used as a perfume bottle. Weight: 98.5 g Height: 11.5 cm Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe. Condition: With signs of age and use, tiny losses, repairs, pitting and iridescent weathering along with encrustation.
