Bronze lamp with hinged lid. Early Byzantine, 5th - 6th century A.D. L 17cm, H 9cm. Round corpus with elongated snout with burn hole and a stand ring with spike for placing on a candelabra. Hinged lid consisting of an open-worked disk and a leaf-shaped cover. The handle curved upwards with a central palmette and two extensions, which originally held an element that is now missing. Green patina, missing element on the handle and lid. Provenance: Ex collection A.D.-U., Bavaria. In Germany since before 1990.
